Overview

The NB MW411V2 is well cushioned and provides excellent support, allowing you to walk comfortably long distances without tiring your feet. These provide neutral arch support, but you will have to use custom insoles if you have pronation issues. The CUSHNB midsole and heel pillow inserts make these shoes extremely comfortable to wear for long hours.

Upper

The MW411V2 shoe comes in two different versions of materials: leather/synthetic and all leather. The mesh/leather is more breathable, flexible, and dry faster. The leather version offers better protection and is more durable but get hot on warm days. The synthetic shoe is ideal for wearing in spring, fall, or summer. For the winter, the leather model would be the best option. Also, the suede version has overlays on the sides and back of the shoes that help keep the foot in place when walking.

Midsole

The MW411V2 features a CUSH NB, a revolutionary foam compound, offering stability and a soft cushion underfoot. It also has a cushioning foam insert that makes the feet comfortable and reduce foot pain. When reading the reviews, I have frequently noticed that many users reported they felt like they were walking on clouds. Some with flat feet had to replace the insole with orthotics, while others couldn’t stand the discomfort of the shoe. So it really depends on the type of feet you have. All in all, most reviewers love them.

Insole

The insole is removable and padded, which is a plus as it allows you to replace it with orthotics. They have neutral arch support, and if you have plantar fasciitis or need extra padding, you’ll have to use your own inserts, like most users do. Many found the insert on the NB MW411V2 comfortable.

Outsole & Traction

The lugs on the 411V2 are small but relatively deep and are separated by a deep groove, enhancing flexibility and traction. Although these are not rated as anti-slip shoes, according to most reviewers, they perform well on dry and wet surfaces. Several users said they still had a fair amount of tread left after months of use. A few wearers said they slip on wet tile floors.

Style

The MW411v2 comes in several colors, such as white, white blue, black, grey, and black grey. Some reviewers got confused when picking the shoes because they come in two different materials. For example, the white and black shoes are all leather while the grey, black/grey, and white/blue colors are synthetic and leather. So pay attention to this detail before ordering the shoes. However, these aren’t the prettiest shoes and look quite old fashion, but the comfort is top-notch and the price as well! If the big N on the sides doesn’t bother you as it did for some of the reviewers, then go for it!

Durability

It’s well known that New Balance Makes high-quality shoes. But, not everyone has the same opinion about MW411V2. Several reviewers stated that the stitching came apart after a few uses and that the material felt fake, especially the black color. The other critics were happy with their choice and said that the shoes hold up well and worth the price. However, the thin material and low weight of the MW411V2 give the impression that they won’t withstand hard uses. But don’t forget that these are athletic shoes, which are not supposed to withstand hard wear.

Breathability

The leather version has a perforated upper, which allows a little airflow. The other version is synthetic; thus, it will keep your feet more aerate in the summer. On the other hand, the leather holds the heat in a little more. If you do a lot of walking in hot weather, then the synthetic model would be ideal. For more protection and cold weather, the leather version is the best option. Since the shoe has thin and breathable synthetic on the toe box, it’s easy to feel the wind passing through the material when it’s cold. On the other version, the toe box is covered with leather, which provides more protection when walking outside on a rainy day.

Terrain Type

The shoe is exceptionally well-cushioned thanks to its Cush NB sole, providing maximum comfort. These absorb shocks when walking on concrete, and take off the pressure of the joints.  The tread is excellent and grips well on pavements and other surfaces. However, bear in mind that these are not designed for walking off-road. Therefore, you must avoid walking on trails.

Size

The MW411V2 comes in many sizes. Based on many users, they fit great right out of the box. They are ideal for wide feet as the toe box is roomy. However, some wearers found them a little small and had to order a half size up. Choosing the right size can be tricky because the chart includes so many numbers and letters. But it’s easier than you might think. The width is the “Letter,” and the length is the “Number. For example, 10B and 10EE are the same lengths, but the width is different. Here are the letters that you should choose according to your foot’s width. (2A – X narrow), (B – Narrow), (D – Standart), (2E – Wide), (4E – X-wide) and (6E – XX-Wide). Before purchasing the shoes, you must measure the contour of your foot and the length so that you get the right size.

Comfort & Stability

Many reviewers believe these are far more comfortable than any other brand they’ve tried in the past. Some even felt like they are walking in slippers. They feature a cushioning comfort insert, and the ankle, tongue, and heel are well padded, providing a high level of comfort. People that stand long hours on their feet are fans of these shoes. However, as we all have different feet, not everyone will find the MW411V2 comfortable. Some customers didn’t like the stiffness of the sole.

Lacing

These are tie shoes, and the laces are flat and quite long. There are seven eyelet holes on each side, which allows you to tighten the shoes more effectively. Plus, there is a loop on the padded tongue where the laces pass through to keep the tongue in place. Some users complained that the laces untied all the time.

Heel Area

The MW411V2 has a low heel cut design, which allows the ankle to move more freely. The collar is well padded, adding comfort around the ankle. Although most users felt cushioned and comfortable in the heel, some reported they are too loose in the heel and slip when walking.

Weight

These shoes are lightweight, and that’s why they are ideal for walking, especially on treadmills. One shoe weighs 10.4 ounces (294gr). Its thin material, along with the cushioning foam insert and CUSH NB outsole, makes each step feel like you’re walking air. Users loved the lightness of the shoes.

Flexibility

The MW is built with a thin material, making the shoe extremely flexible. Neither the synthetic or leather model requires a break-in period. The cush NB sole is thick and relatively stiff in the heel area, but the forefoot is flexible. Since they don’t have any stability features in the midfoot, they twist and bend without much effort, yet offer decent support. Some reviewers stated that they have too much flexibility in the sole and wished they offer more support. If you overpronate and need shoes that correct the gait, these won’t fit. If you have normal pronation, these are excellent.

Toe Box

The MW411V2 has a roomy rounded box, providing extra room and comfort for your toes to move freely. Although the toe box is spacious, a few reviewers felt a bit cramped at the forefoot. They resolved the issue by ordering a wider width. If you have very wide feet, bunions, or need extra room for thick socks or inserts, definitely get a half size larger.

Pros
  • Super comfortable
  • Extremely lightweight
  • Flexible
  • Roomy toe box
  • Great for treadmills and walking exercises
Cons
  • Poor arch support
  • Don’t withstand hard uses.
  • Not long-lasting shoes

My Final Thoughts

The leather material of the MW411V2 is thinner and more flexible than other NB shoes, which may affect their lifespan in the long run, depending on how much you’ll use them. But take into account that they are more affordable than most NB shoes out there. Therefore, you can not expect them to have the same quality as $ 150 shoes. However, they are super comfortable, lightweight, flexible, and have great tread.

Do you wear the NB MW411V2 shoe? If so, what are your thoughts about them?
